Mark 14:36 niv

Just like us Jesus prayed to God, His Father, to be relieved of suffering.
Jesus knew what He was about to face and like any man He didn’t want to suffer.
Yet, He was willing to go to the cross because it was part
of His Father’s plan for those He loves.

Are you willing to suffer for God’s plan for someone else?

Hebrews 2:10 niv

Jesus, in His suffering as a man, was made perfect.
He opened the way to eternity for us.
Through His suffering we will see the splendor of Heaven.
We will see the radiance of His face.
We will hear the angels sing
We will know perfection.
But first we will suffer for a little while.

Does your suffering seem endless?
Are you allowing Jesus to share the burden of it?

1 Peter 4:19 nlt

Everyone suffers in one way or another.  It is a part of this life.
We can expect suffering even when we are doing good.
The attitude we have and what we do when we face adversity or hardship
is not to be one of complaining and self-pity but of patient endurance,
relying on God to see us through the difficulties of our suffering.
He will not leave us alone in our troubles, He is faithful and will stay with us.

I cannot say I always face suffering in a way that is pleasing to God.
What keeps you from wallowing in your suffering?

Job 36:15 nlt

Many times there seems to be no reason for our suffering.
It could be that we are suffering because we aren’t listening
and need something to get our attention.

Often I suffer because I hear but don’t listen.

Do you sometimes need a hard knock to get your attention?
When was a time you suffered for not paying attention?

Isaiah 53:3a gw

When we are sad and hurting we may think no one understands.
Even if we feel we are alone in our pain we are not.
Jesus knows what it is to feel as we do
and will not leave us alone in our struggles.

Sometimes the only one who does understand me and my struggles is the Lord.

Do you feel the Lord’s presence when you are suffering?
Do you allow Him to comfort you?
