Matthew 5:8 esv

rose

Our heart is the center of our understanding.
It is where our words and actions have their beginnings.
Of ourselves we cannot have pure hearts.
Those who love God have their imperfect hearts made pure by His grace.

With pure hearts we see God, today, in His creation and in prayer and worship.
One day we will see Him in fullness and light and glory.

Do you protect the purity of your heart?
How do you keep your heart pure?

Matthew 5:7 niv

mercy

The merciful in this verse are those who actively extend mercy to those in need.
Some have need of mercy for their outer state of being and others for their inner state.
Whichever it is we are to give to them what we have been given by God.
We will be given what we have shown to others.

How has mercy been shown to you?
How can you show mercy to another?

Matthew 5:5 akj

meek

Those who are meek are strong and will bear,
with patience,  whatever trials come their way.

With humble hearts they accept God’s plans without complaint or argument.
This meekness towards God then extends itself to others with compassion and love.

The meek will receive, from the Father, the earth.
Their inheritance will not be a temporary place like this earth that we know now;
they will inherit the new earth for all eternity.

Do you try not to seem meek thinking that you will seem weak and without courage?
Will you look at meekness through God’s eyes and see how strong are the meek?

mourn

When we think of the offense of our sins, if we are truly repentant we will grieve.
As we mourn we will be comforted;
we will find strength as we are consoled and encouraged.
It is out of this sorrow that we will be blessed with joy.

Have you been so convicted by your sin that your heart aches with grief?
Do you want to be comforted by your Father and have the blessing of joy?
Will you talk with Him today?

Blessings this day of grace,

Matthew 5:3 niv

flower

Those who know their need of God’s help are poor in spirit and rich in blessings.
To be rich in blessings doesn’t mean being happy,
a temporary feeling dependent on circumstances,

it means to know joy and hope in our relationship with the Lord.

When the poor in spirit know their need of God the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
The verse says it is theirs, they don’t have to wait to be part of the kingdom.
They are in the kingdom now.

They are blessed.

Do you know that you need God?
Do you know the difference between being blessed and being happy?

Blessings this day of grace,

patricia
